About Pirwa Machu Picchu Hostel

Pirwa Hostel Machu Picchu is located in the heart of Machu Picchu Pueblo, colloquially known as Aguas Calientes, at the middle of Pachacutec Avenue near the popular hot springs. Stay for a night and enjoy an included breakfast served from 5:30am so that you can behold Machu Picchu Archeological Complex in the early dawn before the trains arrive. Make sure to provide us with your arrival information and a friendly staff member will be waiting for you at the station upon your arrival to help you to the hostel, which offers both private rooms and shared dormitories and which will happily store your luggage for free after check-out to allow you to enjoy your remaining time in town unhampered. Those arriving via the Inca Trail or other footpaths will appreciate the comfortable beds and 24hr hot showers to soothe their muscles, as well as the proximity to the thermal baths which gave Aguas Calientes its name.

Despite the small size of Aguas Calientes, if you've got some free time you do have some options. Gain a more nuanced appreciation for the ruins of Machu Picchu at the fascinating though often overlooked Manuel Chávez Ballón Site Museum, which will introduce you to Inca construction methods and the history of the Lost City's archaeological excavations and their findings. Once you have an understanding of the structures themselves, you can learn about the flora of the area, especially the orchids, at the Botanical Garden right by the museum, or learn about the butterflies of Machu Picchu Sanctuary at the Butterfly House. You can explore some rainforest paths at the Ecological Center or Mandor Gardens, keeping an eye out for exotic birds and flowers as well as a small waterfall, or attempt to climb Putucusi Peak for an overview of the Urubamba River and Machu Picchu.
